It’s game time!!
The Boks are running out on the field, we are cheering, screaming out of excitement and anticipation. Here it is, the time is now, it almost feels surreal. We sit on the edge of our seats as the players position themselves. Eagerly waiting for the kick-off – and off they go!
Isn’t that what we are all addicted to? The adrenaline rush that only rugby can produce.
We're so excited for international rugby to kickstart, and we know that it will always generate, togetherness, family, joy, laughter and of course every time a braai!
Each rugby match is a festive occasion, and we seize this opportunity to create a flavourful experience. We bring people together to enjoy a scrumptious braai, delicious potjiekos and side dishes that form a true symphony of tastes. By transforming the opposition's traditional food with a South African twist, we unite the spirit of friendship and aromatic nuances.

SA vs Australia:
One of Australia’s favourite dishes is a hamburger with beetroot. To give it a South African twist, we are going to tackle the Australian burger with the Jan Braai Bash burger that’s prepared on our 1000 deluxe patio freestanding charcoal braai. This burger might end up being one of your favourite hamburger recipes on the braai. The bashed burger method is the secret to crispy edges and a juicy burger. The main idea is to not pre make or form the patties but to divide the mince into portions, but those portions of mince on a searing hot cast iron plate or pan and to then use a flat object to bash the meat into a flatter form resembling a patty.
We can make this a fast and effortless meal for game night! Everybody can participate, prepping their own burgers.
South Africa vs New Zealand:
One of New Zealand’s favourite dishes are meat pies, this meat pie we are going to tackle with our Luyanda’s steak and kidney pot. This pie is going to take the lead in flavour and served in our No¼ Quarter Pots.
Private chef and food blogger Luyanda Mafanya created this meaty pot pie, prepared on a Megamaster Coalsmith Series Alpha Grill & Smoker.
Truly, excellent pot pies are hard to come by, but this method will deliver the most tender and deeply flavoured beef pie recipe you’ve ever made. The filling is browned in a pan over a hot fire until the steak and kidney are cooked to perfection, remove, and set aside, then topped with pie crust dough and returned to the smoker until the top is golden. This finishes into one special dish that will have everyone saying “yu-um” with every bite.
South Africa vs Argentina:
One of Argentina favourite dishes are their Chorizo Sandwich; we tackle them with our Braaied Spicy Tacos that is based on Mzansi’s traditional favourites. Our recipe is by a true South-Africans Oreneile Modibela and Redirile Malete from the Capital Hotel, Chef School in Pretoria.
Braaied spicy tacos are delicious, amazing, and oh so mouthwatering! Bite into tender marinated chicken, zesty lime flavour with a hint of spice and add on pineapple, red bell pepper, red onion, jalapeño, and coriander for a savoury bite you are going to love!
These braaied spicy tacos are completely jam-packed with flavour, and they are so easy to make. Braaied on our Apex 6 gourmet plus patio braai.
To spice it up a bit, serve them while the game is on, as a snack.
