Retro with streamline design and finishes, our Megamaster Walden 8kW Cast Iron Fireplace is effective in heating rooms ranging between 64-80m² in size. Built with a closed combustion system, the Walden 8kW Cast Iron Fireplace heats up much hotter than a conventional open fireplace. Heat generated inside is locked in and will burn at higher temperatures with the door closed. For optimal heat, ensure that the room is well insulated. Can be installed with a top or rear flue pipe that is sold separately.

The fireplace is designed to be more efficient with the amount of wood that is used to burn slower. A closed combustion fireplace should always have a smaller fire. Making a big fire will cause the longevity of your fireplace to reduce.

What is the difference between a cast iron and steel fireplace?

Cast iron takes longer to heat up but once it’s heated it stays heated for a long period of time even after the fire has died, a steel fireplace heats quickly and cools down quicker. Cast iron is a heavier and more durable material compared to steel.

Which installation kit/flue pipes should I use for my cast iron fireplace?

We only recommend the use of the Megamaster 125 or 150mm Stainless Steel Installation Kits because they can hold the high heat that is produced by the cast iron fireplace. The stainless steel also produces heat which adds to warming your home. The silver of the stainless steel changes in colour from silver to a warm brassy colour.
