How often do I need to refurbish my built-in braai?

We recommend that you maintain your braai to prevent any major refurbishments. When you start to notice corrosion or rust you simply need to sand it down to the bare metal and then repaint it with DTM heat resistant paint. You can purchase the DTM heat resistant paint directly from the Megamaster Customer Service Department or from any hardware store.

What causes my built-in braai to rust?

Rust is the result of corroding steel after the iron particles have been exposed to oxygen and/or moisture, Environmental factors. Due to the high heat of the fire process, the braai needs to be maintained regularly. We recommend inspection and maintenance to be done yearly. Should you live in coastal areas we recommend quarterly inspections and maintenance due to the high salt and moisture content in the air.

We recommend that you clean your braai after every use, remove the ash and wash it with soapy water wipe it down and make sure that it is dry. Do not use any sharp objects that can scratch or damage your braai. Maintaining your braai will improve longevity and prevent the need for major refurbishments or replacing your unit.

Which lightbulb can I use in my built-in braai?

We recommend that you use a heat-resistant lightbulb this can be purchased directly from any hardware or lighting store.

Which side of the built-in braai should the ember maker be fitted?

We recommend that you have your ember maker fitted on the right side of your built-in braai, due to the light fitting being on the left side of the unit. Excessive heat could potentially damage the light fitting and cause the light bulb to burst however the 1200mm built-in braai can have the ember maker placed in the middle with 2x smaller grids on either side.
